InterSense Inc. Relocates Massachusetts Headquarters to Billerica
Larger facility supports company’s long-term growth plans
Bedford, Mass. — May 19, 2009 — InterSense Inc., a market leader in precision motion technology, announced today it will be expanding and relocating its company headquarters from a 14,000-square-foot space in Bedford to a 20,000-square-foot facility in Billerica, Mass. The new space will encourage more collaborative interaction among InterSense’s 35 employees and support the company’s long-term growth plans.
“Moving to a larger facility illustrates InterSense’s position as a vibrant local company successfully weathering the current economic climate. We remain very confident about conducting our business from a Massachusetts home base,” said T.C. Browne, CEO of InterSense Inc.
InterSense was founded in 1996 and quickly gained recognition for its precision motion technology used for advanced motion tracking applications in military flight simulators, weapons trainers and situational awareness. Since then, InterSense has adapted its core technology into applications for non-military markets, including developing solutions for engineering simulation, psychological research, robotics, augmented reality, 3-D virtual displays and virtual production. Virtual production technology is especially of interest to filmmakers and game developers, who are increasingly using InterSense’s Virtual Camera Tracking technology to enhance the creative process, lower production costs, streamline workflow and improve the quality of the end product.
This approach has facilitated the resurgence in 3-D movies, with the technology serving as a key driver behind several blockbuster films, including “Beowulf”, “Monsters vs. Aliens” and the soon-to-be-released “A Christmas Carol”. InterSense’ technology was also used to create the latest installment of Electronic Arts’ Red Alert 3, a high-end remake of the popular Command & Conquer franchise video game offering lifelike, feature-film-quality game cinematography.
“InterSense is poised for continued growth in our core military and industrial training markets and in new markets, including the movie and game industries, which are increasingly turning to technologies like ours to improve processes, reduce costs and enhance the viewing experience,” Browne said. “We are committed to driving the kind of innovation and sophisticated solutions that lead the next generation of motion tracking technology.”
The company will complete its headquarters relocation by May 22. The new space, located at 4 Federal Street in Billerica, will feature a large demonstration area where visitors can experience the company’s range of motion tracking products for simulation, training, research and virtual production. InterSense’s telephone numbers and corporate Web address will remain the same; only the company’s physical address is changing.
