Tracking personnel in hazardous conditions
Personnel Tracking
To improve situational awareness and safety, there is a critical need to know the real-time location of key personnel at all times. While GPS provides a working solution outdoors, a challenge remains for tracking individuals inside buildings, urban canyons, and underground. Based on its small size and low drift, the NavChip™ IMU is being used for the development of GPS denied tracking solutions in these challenging environments.
An acceptable GPS denied solution must provide precise location in a wide variety of conditions without interfering with normal operations. The low noise and drift rate of the NavChip provides the performance necessary to calculate the location of an individual over an extended period of time & distance. With its OEM surface mountable chip form factor and low power requirements, the sensor can be easily embedded into a small, body worn device.
InterSense is taking a leading developer role of personnel tracking and pedestrian navigation with NavShoe™ technology.
Personnel tracking applications include:
- Firefighters
- Civil and military first-responders
- Special Ops and Security forces
- Dismounted infantry
- Industrial personnel
