How long has Thales Defense & Security, Inc. been in existence?
Thales Defense & Security, Inc. was incorporated as Racal Communications, Inc. in 1964. In 2000, Racal became part of Thomson-CSF, and, in 2001, as part of a global change, the company’s name became Thales Communications, Inc. As a result of acquisitions and intra-Thales mergers, the company expanded in 2013, increasing its technology base and product portfolio. In October 2013, the company changed its name to Thales Defense & Security, Inc.
What is the significance of the "proxy" company and status
Thales Defense & Security operates as a proxy-regulated company, free of foreign ownership, control, and influence. As such, it is considered a 100% American company by the U.S. Government, approved to work on the full spectrum of U.S. Government projects and positioned to support strategic partnerships in the development of key technologies for the defense market.
